Hair Tonic
The desert has slowed my life down in many ways and the best one yet is getting back to creating all types of lotions and potions. I am a firm believer in being able to heal your body through the power of plants. I personally appreciate the slow unfolding that plant medicine gives to the body. It’s full of nuance and subtly, that is truly heard when one turns inward.
Nettle Leaf: Soothes scalp inflammation, strengthen hair, may help stimulate hair growth, and has wonderful antimicrobial properties.
Red Raspberry Leaf: A rich source of iron, manganese, niacin, calcium, magnesium, selenium, and Vitamins A & C, which help promote soft hair, prevent moisture loss, and increase elasticity.
Goji Berries: Helps to smooth surface of the hair focicles while strengthening and softening the hair.
Although there are so many benefits, the best part of the this tea is that it is truly delicious. It has no caffeine and goes great with most things.
Tools:
2 Glass Jars with lid (64 oz)
1 Nut Milk bag (to strain)
Ingredients:
4 tbsp Red Raspberry Leaf (organic + loose)
4 tbsp Nettle Tea (organic + loose)
2-4 tbsp Goji Berries (organic + dried)
Process:
Start by boiling some water. I fill the kettle to the top.
While the water is boiling, begin to add all the dried ingredients to the glass jar. Choose the amount of goji berries based on desired sweetness.
Once water is boiling, slowly add to glass jar while gently rotating the jar to cover all the dried ingredients.
You may need to boiling a second kettle, if so place top over glass jar to begin steeping.
Once your glass jar is filled, cover tea loosely with cap and let steep for 4 hours.
After the tea is done steeping, place the nut milk bag in the second glass jar and fold the edges over to ensure nothing spills over.
Begin to pour the tea through the nut milk bag into the second jar, all of the leaves and berries should be caught in the bag. Once everything is in, gently squeeze the nut milk bag, cover and refrigerate.
Good for up to 4 day in the refrigerator.
